Oculoplastics – Eyelid Surgery Bundaberg
Dr. Jon Farrah, our visiting doctor from Brisbane, can now offer various lid surgery in Bundaberg.
Ectropion is a condition were the lid rolls out from its normal position against the eye ball. This causes the eye surface to be more exposed and often become more red and sore. Ectropion surgery is a day procedure that tightens the eyelid to improve the position of the lid.
Dermatochalasis is a condition that occurs from excess skin on the upper or lower eyelid often affecting vision. A day procedure called blepharoplasty can be offered to remove the excess skin and reconstruct the lids to a normal position. Brow surgery can also be required to lift the superior lids into correct position.
Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is another surgical procedure which can be offered from Dr Jai Eye Centre. It is used to restore the flow of tears from the eye directly to the nose. It is often required if a patient is suffering from epiphoria (excess tears), secondary to a blockage in the nasolacrimal duct.
Skin cancer is commonly found on they eyelid or around the skin of the eye. This requires surgical removal and pathology to ensure the whole cancer is removed. Often the removal of smaller skin cancers will be carried out in our clinical rooms by Dr. Jai. However, larger skin cancers can require a day surgery procedure to reconstruct the lid margin.
